An assignment meant to strengthen our visual recognition skills. I chose Burt's Bees and was assigned to change the identity of the product to an incorporation of my personal name.
The class was assigned to create our own granola bar. I was inspired by my grandmother and inevitably chose to call the product GRAN bar playing off the use of the word gran in granola and also in grandmother. My design is meant to be modern with minimal visual representations.
Using the playful affectivity of the brand, I wanted to push even further the abnormality of the design. Presented on the opening flap is a pop out visual with the brand motto, "Give me one of those, bruh." I liked the idea of using two contrasting styles of old-fashioned and modern and merging them together.
The class was assigned to create our own beverage brand and label. Schlüter is my mother's maiden name and wassail is a traditional apple cider ale in the German culture. I wanted it to be contemporary and again with a minimal amount of detail. Schluter means "door-keeper" in german which is where the door illustration is derived from.
As a final project we were assigned to design a toy package of any sort. I decided to make my own toy and series titled Mini Me. This being the "Graphic Designer" edition. The doll is hand-made by myself. I chose it to be lite and playful using pastel and warm tones in the color pallet. All illustrations are original.
We were assigned as a class to experiment with three various forms of innovative packaging productions. Going with the idea of abnormal, I decided to make the designs abnormal themselves also playing with a hand drawn and sketchy appearance. It is a design for office supplies being pencils, pens, and erasers which is illustrated on the interior of each.
When opened, there is a secret message. This one saying, "Too crazy for you!"
This secret message is, "Too insane for you!"
The secret message (this one not too secret) of this design is, "Too bizarre for you!"
